From 9 September 2024, there will no longer be a doctor's fee in England and Wales when arranging a funeral. This is because from this date, all deaths in England and Wales will be independently viewed, either by a relevant coroner or by a Medical Examiner and the cost will be met by the NHS.
A Medical Examiner is a specifically trained independent senior doctor who will scrutinise all deaths across a local area that do not fall under the coroner's jurisdiction. By providing a greater level of scrutiny over the cause of deaths; it is hoped that the introduction of Medical Examiners will make it less likely that unnatural causes of death will go unnoticed; that the number of deaths unnecessarily referred to the coroner will be reduced and that national data about causes of death will be captured with greater accuracy.
Medical Examiners, or Medical Examiner Officers, will also be available to meet with families, or their representatives, if they wish to discuss the cause of death.

ALL I WOULD SAY IS GO MEET GURDEEP AND THE TEAM. YOU WILL NOT REGRET PICKING THIS FUNERAL SERVICE.
As others have said Gurdeep and her team could not do enough and providing an amazing service and treated us with the same respect as if we were part of their family. Gurdeep kindness, compassion and empathy was always there in every engagement which made the family fell very supported and comforted during the whole funeral process. The team knew exactly what to do for our faith (Sikhi) and show the upmost respect to our passing father. There guidance help us throughout the whole process from day 1 to the final arrangement of our fathers assesses.
Before the funeral, they helped with getting the service ready, arrange for the music and the pictures for the day. On the day of the funeral, everything was calm and relaxed. Rachel and the team once again showed all the professionalism, compassion and empathy to make the day go so smoothly.
Thank you for all your support and the family cannot thank you all enough for everything you did and made our fathers funeral a special one.
Thank you for your thoughtful and detailed review. It is incredibly helpful to other families in the same circumstances as yourself. I am glad that all of your wishes and requirements were carried out by the team as you had requested. It has been an honour to look after you and your loved one and to respond sensitively to your specific needs. It’s so good to hear that we gave outstanding support to you from the branch.
Gurdeep and Rachel could not have done more. From the onset and initial meeting Gurdeep was kind, compassionate and empathetic (even through my tears). She never rushed us and always offered tissues and compassion. When my father arrived at the funeral home she addressed him by his name and her respect was so very welcomed.
Rachel...well I honestly cannot put into words how supportive, kind, caring and so very genuine she is. We spoke about my father and his interests etc and she did the service at the crematory for him. She listened, wrote the MOST amazing eulogy for him and even wore a Reading FC scarf whilst she did so (she is an Arsenal fan so this meant even more for us).
Nothing was too much trouble and her genuine compassion and empathy made a very sad time bearable.
Gurdeep and Rachel are irreplaceable, kind individuals who not only need recognition for being amazing and wonderful but have made our lives (as a grieving family) through such a distressing time bearable.
As a family we could not have got through it without you two "exceptional" ladies and genuinely kind and decent human beings.
We will always and forever be thankful to both of you..
Family of Mr Cecil Tipping.
